Mrs. Beverly Mae Christman passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Palatine Bridge Nursing Home, after a short illness, with her family by her side. She was born on May 20, 1930 to Gordon and Lela Carpenter who predeceased her. On August 15, 1948 she was married to her one true love, Owen Christman, sharing 72 years of love and devotion. She was a devoted wife and mother her entire life. She helped Owen build from the ground up their shared business, Christman’s Cycle Sales, doing everything side by side for over 60 years. She worked daily in the business up until her illness. She was non-stop everyday of her life. She assumed the role of “mother” to all she knew, whether they were family, friends, or their many customers. She will be missed in her usual chair in the shop, as many came in to visit, including the four-legged friends who knew where the treats were kept. Beverly and Owen spent 20 years or more in Sarasota, Florida for part of the winter. Always enjoying their time there with friends from up North and new ones they met. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain and the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents; son, Wayne; grandson, Jeremy; brother, Gordon Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Larry Gibbs and Sonny Oakley; and nephew, Bob Gibbs. Mrs. Christman is survived by her beloved family, husband, Owen; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Debbie; sisters, Kathryn Gibbs and Simone Oakley; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family asks to donate to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 36 Lydius Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339 or to Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Inc., 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 or to Montgomery County K-9, 200 Clark Drive, Fultonville, NY 12072.
