Obituary of Kenneth D. Simpson

Mr. Kenneth D. Simpson, 100, of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, New York passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at Palatine Nursing Home.

Born on January 28, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Delbert J. Simpson and Ester Geruldsen Simpson.  He attended school in Palatine Bridge.

Mr. Simpson worked for Montgomery County Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator.  He also worked nights at LifeSavers in Canajoharie and worked on the family farm.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II as Private First Class.  He received the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Purple Heart.

Mr. Simpson was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars of the United States; Glen-Mohawk Post, and the Ambulance Corp.

On June 2, 1951 in Canajoharie, NY, Kenneth was married to Jeannette Pickard.

His parents, brother, Arthur “Roy” Simpson and sister, Viola Simpson predeceased him.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Jeannette Simpson of Canajoharie, NY; children, Vicky Weaver of Florida, Thomas (Beth) Simpson of Epworth, Iowa, Lorraine (Michael) Moyer of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy (Bonita) Simpson of Cincinnati, OH; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00AM at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
