Obituary of Lewis J. Quackenbush

Mr. Lewis J. Quackenbush, 82, of State Highway 5s, Fort Plain, New York passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare of Amsterdam, with his loving wife by his side.

Born on April 29, 1936 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of Leon Quackenbush and Clara Sands Quackenbush.  He attended Canajoharie High School and was a lifetime area resident.

Mr. Quackenbush was a Fork Truck Driver for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie for many years.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War and obtaining the rank of SP4.

Mr. Quackenbush loved his Wheel Horse Tractors and his bunnies.

On June 2, 2000 at Johnson Hall in Johnstown, NY, Lewis married Caroline Scarrone.

His brother, Carlton and sister, Evie predeceased him.

Mr. Quackenbush is survived by his wife, Caroline Quackenbush of Fort Plain, NY; son, Lewis and Lori Quackenbush of St. Johnsville, NY; daughter, Linda Gordon of Fort Plain, NY; brothers, Burt Quackenbush of Fort Plain, NY, Jesse L. Quackenbush of Fort Plain, NY, Jerry Quackenbush of Fultonville, NY; 5 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At the request of Lewis there will be no services.  Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium in Schenectady, NY.
