Obituary of Lelia V. Gage

Mrs. Lelia V. Gage, 87, formerly of West Lykers Road, Canajoharie, New York died, Monday, November 5, 2018 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Delhi.

Born on February 18, 1931 in Sharon Springs, NY, she was the daughter of Marsh Foland and Ruth Edwards Foland.  She was a graduate of Sharon Springs Central School, Class of 1949.  Mrs. Gage had lived in Canajoharie, and grew up in Sharon Springs.

She was a housewife, as well as a receptionist for Dr. BaKash in Canajoharie, NY.  She also worked for Gurrells Bungalows in Sharon Springs.

Mrs. Gage loved to help her husband build and furnish doll houses.  One of the doll houses is on display at the Ames Museum.

On December 17, 1949 in Sharon Springs, NY, Lelia was married to Garrett G. Gage, Jr.  He preceded her in death on November 27, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and Robert Hanford, Sr. of Sharon Springs, NY; son, James G. and Theresa Gage of Delhi, NY; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home.  Burial will take place privately at Sharon Cemetery at a later date.
