Obituary of Carolyn M. Edick

Mrs. Carolyn M. Edick, 82, of State Highway 80, Fort Plain, New York passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at her home.

Born on April 16, 1936 in Cooperstown, NY, she was the daughter of George Hopkinson and Florence Jordan Hopkinson.  She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident. 

Mrs. Edick worked for a short time at the former Nelson’s Laundry in Fort Plain.

She was a member of the former Starkville United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Edick was a founding member of the VanHornesville Ladies Fire Department Auxiliary.

On September 9, 1961 in Fort Plain, NY, Carolyn was married to Walter Edick.  Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Her son, Walter D. Edick preceded her in death on February 23, 1990.

Mrs. Edick is survived by her husband, Walter G. Edick of Starkville, NY; sons, Richard Edick and Missy of Paines Hollow, NY, Robert Edick and Yoko of Japan; daughter, Deborah Williams and Steven of Starkville, NY; sisters, Rosalyn Gmelin, Geraldine Arsenult; brother, Wendell Hopkinson; 5 grandchildren, Dannielle Edick, Bradlee Edick, Sonae Edick, Jerimiah Edick, and Yu David Edick Sato.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:00AM at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10:00-11:00AM at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
