Obituary of Sheila Marie Ortiz-Medina

Mrs. Sheila Ortiz-Medina, 38, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away early Sunday Morning, July 15, 2018 peacefully at home following a bout with pancreatic cancer.

Born on July 7, 1980 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of Maribel Medina.  She had attended Amsterdam High School. 

Sheila had most recently worked at the 5s Diner in Fort Plain as a preparation cook. Prior to that she had worked as a caregiver at the Crest Hill Nursing Home, Amsterdam, NY.

Shelia had been living in Fort Plain for the past three years, prior to that she had been living in Amsterdam.

She loved spending time with and doing anything she could with her kids, and helping and encouraging anyone in any way that she could.

Shelia is survived by her mother and step father Maribel Medina and Moises DeCastro of Fort Plain;her daughter Ariana Nemeth, and her Son Xander Nemeth both of Fort Plain; her husband James Marrott of Ravena, NY;  Brothers Michael Ortiz-Medina of Palatine Bridge; Francisco (Sico) Ortiz;  sisters Mayra Ortiz, Wanda Ortiz, Brenda Ortiz, Karii Ortiz, Franchelis Ortiz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before the service, on Thursday July 19, 2018 from 11:00am-Noon, followed by a Noon funeral service all at the chapel of Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317, with burial following at Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
