Obituary of Shirley L. Hopkinson

Miss Shirley L. Hopkinson, 83, of Rockton Plaza, Little Falls, New York passed away Thursday evening, January 18, 2018 at Little Falls Bassett Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on November 8, 1934 in Mohawk, NY, she was the daughter of George Grant Hopkinson and Florence E. Jordan Hopkinson.  She was a lifetime area resident, and a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1952.  She attended Nursing School at Albany Medical School in 1955.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Houghton College.

Miss Hopkinson started her nursing career at Albany Medical Center, working there for 25 years.  She then went to work for Little Falls Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fort Plain.

Miss Hopkinson was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling abroad.

Her brother, Georgeabram Hopkinson predeceased her.

Miss Hopkinson is survived by her brother, Wendell Hopkinson of Middleville, NY; 3 sisters, Carolyn Edick of Fort Plain, NY, Rosalyn Gmelin of Fort Plain, NY, Geraldine Arsenult of Herkimer, NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fort Plain Cemetery.
