Obituary of Daniel D. Conrad

Mr. Daniel D. Conrad, 70, of Smith Road, Richmondville, New York died Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his home, following a brief illness. Born on September 4, 1947 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of William Conrad and Leta M. Race Conrad. He attended Canajoharie High School and had been living in Richmondville for the past 25 years, previously residing in Canajoharie. Mr. Conrad worked for LifeSavers in Canajoharie for over 10 years. He worked for Walmart Distribution in the Maintenance Department for over 10 years and was the Owner and Operator of the former Boulevard Inn in Canajoharie. Daniel enlisted in the US Marine Corps. In 1966, serving until 1972, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Corporal. He served during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He was of Methodist faith. Mr. Conrad was a past member of the Unity Lodge #79. His brothers, James Conrad and Gerald Conrad predeceased him. Mr. Conrad is survived by his fiancé of over 40 years, Janice E. Scott of Richmondville, NY; son, Tim Scott and Christine of Camden, NY; daughters, Elizabeth Barr of Richmondville, NY, Catherine Scott and Lester Dillenbeck of Richmondville, NY; brother, Dennis W. Conrad and Sandy of Canajoharie, NY; sister, Linda Rush and Tom of South Carolina; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Pastor Marvin Baccher officiating.
