Mrs. Lola E. Keller, 96, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House. Born on November 24, 1920 in the Town of Palatine, NY, she was the daughter of Lloyd Saltsman and Irene Walrath Saltsman. She was a lifetime area resident, graduating High School in Fort Plain, Class of 1936. She was the Valedictorian of her Class. She was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker. Mrs. Keller was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing and crafts. On December 20, 1941 at the Parsonage of St. James Church in Fort Plain, Lola was married to Harrison "Skip" Keller. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1999. Her sister, Evelyn Heansel also predeceased her. Mrs. Keller is survived by her son, Gregory C. and Bonnie Keller of Nelliston, NY; daughter, Karen Ann Cummings of Fort Plain, NY; 2 sisters, Clara King of St. Johnsville, NY, Geraldine Case of St. Petersburg, FL; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:00pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Zachary Labagh officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Lola E. Keller may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 238, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
