Mrs. Wilhelmina M. Atkins, 93, formerly of Canajoharie, New York died Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, New York. She was born October 30, 1914, the daughter of Herman Sommer and Marie Loff Sommer. Mrs. Atkins graduated from Canajoharie High School, Class of 1933. Most recently Mrs. Atkins was employed as a clerk for Beech-Nut Corp. in Canajoharie, retiring in 1978. Prior to that she was employed at the former Canajoharie Hotel. She was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Atkins was a former resident of Arkell Hall. She was a member of Canajoharie United Methodist Church. Wilhelmina was a former member of the Canajoharie Senior Citizens. Wilhelmina was married to J. Clinton Atkins on April 6, 1934 at St. John's Lutheran Church. He predeceased her on July 4, 1994. She is survived by two sons, Thomas S. and Kathleen Atkins of Elkton, FL and Clinton C. and Lucy Atkins of Huntington, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Mrs. Atkins is predeceased by two brothers, Fred and Adolph Sommers.
