Obituary of Calvin C. Luft

Mr. Calvin C. Luft, 96, formerly of Reid Street, Fort Plain, New York died, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Healthcare of Amsterdam.

Born on July 14, 1921 in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of William J. Luft and Jennie M. Frederick Luft.  He was a lifetime area resident.

Most recently Mr. Luft was employed as a laborer for the former Scholet’s Furniture Store in Fort Plain.

Mr. Luft served in the US Navy during World War II.

Mr. Luft was a member of the Fort Plain Masonic Lodge #433.  He was personally responsible for much of the work done in the museum.

Calvin is survived by his sister, Evelyn Luft Keller; niece, Kathyrn Belewich; and nephew, Donald B. Keller.

His brother-in-law, Richard Keller predeceased him in June.

Services for Mr. Luft will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
