Obituary of Betty Jean Talcott

Mrs. Betty Weaver Talcott, 79, of Glebe Street, Johnstown, New York passed away, Friday, November 24, 2017 at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown.

Born on May 19, 1938 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Robert Weaver and Clara Ferguson Weaver.  She attended Fort Plain Schools and was a lifetime area resident.

Mrs. Talcott was the owner and operator of Betty’s Second Hand Shop, originating out of her home in St. Johnsville, and opening several small shops in the area.

She loved decorations and enjoyed buying and selling stuff for her shops, often covering every inch of wall space.  She loved her dogs.

On December 28, 1992 in Johnstown, NY, Betty was married to Fred Talcott.  He preceded her in death on August 27, 2017.  Her son, Robert Roy Dingman also predeceased her.

Mrs. Talcott is survived by her daughters, Christina Dingman and Kelly LaCoppola of Johnstown, NY, Cynthia Dingman of CA; sons, Bradley Dingman and Pamela of VA, Jeffrey Dingman and Debi of Greenwich, NY, John Chatterton and Bernadette of Perth, NY; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashlee, Samantha, Bradley, Jason, Barbara, Krystal, Breanna, John Robert, Brittany; 18 great-grandchildren; and her furbaby, Soxy.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 10:00am at Fort Plain Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Betty Talcott may be made to The Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Inc., 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 or to your local area humane society.
